Application Engineer

Location: Wixom, MI

Type: Full-time, On-site

Our customer is a pioneering force in the development and manufacture of cutting-edge industrial endoscopes, catering to technicians across diverse industries. It provides bespoke solutions to large tool companies that align with their brand and market specifications. Additionally, it is at the forefront of IoT-based inspection equipment, seamlessly integrated into the workflows of leading industrial enterprises spanning various sectors. With a global presence in the USA, Europe, and China, it caters to a clientele in the US and EU markets.

Key Job Elements:

  • Product Ownership and Roadmap: Serve as the product owner for our suite of Connected Tool mobile cloud-based applications. Collaborate closely with customers and our Product Manager to comprehend potential use cases for these tools. Responsible for shaping the product roadmap, including the coordination of feature updates in line with the roadmap and specific customer requirements, working with third-party service providers, and the implementation of subscription monetization features.
  • Implementation and Integration: Implement our connected tools product architecture in collaboration with our customers. This entails the ability to deploy our standard end-to-end solution and customize it to meet specific requirements. Work in tandem with customers to design tailored system solutions that ensure compatibility with their network infrastructure. Define requirements for Software Development Kits (SDKs) and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) necessary for the seamless integration of our connected tools into our customers' infrastructure.
  • Systems Testing: Conduct comprehensive systems-level testing of our Connected Tools at customer locations.
  • Communication and Coordination: Act as a technical liaison between various stakeholders, including the Chief Product Architect, Product Manager, App developer(s), firmware engineers, and other key parties, to ensure the successful application of our connected tools.
  • Technical Partnership: Serve as the technical interface to key connected tools partners, facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/technology.
  • Proficiency in leading technical discussions with partners and customers.
  • Experience with mobile app development.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with Software Development Kits (SDKs) and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
  • Systems engineering knowledge, particularly in the areas of wireless networks (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth), IoT products or embedded controllers, and cloud-based applications and operations.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering/technology. 
  • Familiarity with AWS and cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Android, and/or iOS operating systems.
  • Previous experience with camera or camera-based products.
  • IT knowledge encompassing firewall configurations and password/security protocols.
  • Ability to define interface requirements between embedded controllers and web/cloud-based applications.
  • Cybersecurity expertise.

Travel: Frequent travel to customer and technology partner locations, including international travel, is a requisite part of this role.
